I have loved art since I was five years old. My first epiphany came when my kindergarten teacher drew a bluebird for the class. It was as though she performed a magic act.

I was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, in 1946.  My family moved to California when I was two.  My mother and father were ordained ministers, and I grew up in Palo Alto, Benicia, Hughson and Patterson.

I received a B.A. from San Jose State where Maynard Stewart was my mentor.  I received my teaching credential and Masters degree from Chico State, where I also met my wife, Vicki.

I taught Junior High School art in Patterson, California and Turlock, California.  I recently retired and I'm enjoying being a full time artist.
